BC PNP Program

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is an economic Immigration Program run by the immigration and Refugee Branch of the government of British Columbia. The Program enables the province to select and nominate Foreign workers, international students and entrepreneurs to help meet the labour market needs, support government priorities and help grow the BC economy.

There are particularly two programs under the BC PNP:

  • Skill Immigration Stream
  • Entrepreneur Immigration

Skilled Immigration Stream:

Skilled Immigration has 5 streams and each has its own set of unique criteria.

Skilled Worker:

The skilled Worker stream is for those individuals who have experience in Professional, Management, technical, trade, or other occupations to gain permanent residency in British Columbia.

Eligibility:

To qualify for this you must have:

  • A Full-time job offer for an indeterminate period of time, a job offer from a BC employer
  • The job offer must be classified as NOC TEER 0,1,2 or 3
  • He must be qualified to perform the duties
  • He must have at least two years of full-time work experience in the NOC TEER 0,1,2 or 3.
  • Must meet the minimum language requirement.
  • The wage rate must comply with the British Columbia wage rate for the occupation.
  • Must have enough funds to support yourself and your dependents.

**Your employer must agree to support your application and must meet certain requirements.
The candidate must have an Express Entry BC profile

**The job offer does not need to be continuous if it is in a priority technology occupation

Health Authority:

The Health Authority stream gives permanent residency to people who are working in the healthcare sector in BC. If you have a job offer as a Physician, midwife, or nursing practitioner, you are eligible to apply under the Health Authority stream.
You don’t need to register for this stream, if you are meeting the eligibility requirements, you can submit your applications directly to BC PNP.

Eligibility:

To qualify for this stream, you must have:

An indeterminate, full-time job offer from the BC Public Health Authority.
A letter from the healthcare authority to prove that you are a practicing nurse, physician, or midwife in British Columbia.

You must meet the education, training, experience, and qualification requirements outlined by the public health authority.

The BC health authority must support your application and if it is not for an indeterminate period of time. It must be in the priority tech occupation

Entry-level and semi-skilled:

The Entry-level and semi-skilled stream is a way for the workers to get permanent residency in the selected occupation in the tourism/hospitality or food processing sector.

Eligibility:

To qualify for this stream you must have:

  • An Acceptable indeterminate job offer from the BC employer.
  • Your Occupation must be listed on the eligible occupation list for your sector.
  • Have been working full-time for your employer for a minimum if nine consecutive months before registering for the BC PNP.
  • Be qualified to do that job, must have the certifications and licences need to do that job.
  • Meet minimum language and education requirements
  • Have a wage offer in line with the BC wage rate for that occupation.
  • If you are bringing your family, you must show enough funds to support the dependents.

65210 Support occupations in accommodation, travel, and facilities set-up services
65310 Light duty cleaners
65311 Specialized cleaners
65312 Janitors, caretakers, and heavy-duty cleaners

Other service occupations (employed directly by hotels/resorts*)
65320 Dry cleaning, laundry and related occupations
65329 Other service support occupations

Food processing
94140 Process control and machine operators, food and beverage processing
94141 Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers, and related workers
94142 Fish and seafood plant workers
94143 Testers and graders, food and beverage processing
95106 Labourers in food and beverage processing

International Graduate

International graduate stream is a way for the recent Canadian University, or college graduates with a degree, diploma to get permanent residency in BC.

To qualify for this stream you must have:

  • Completed a post-secondary education from a Canadian Institution in the past 3 years.
  • Must have a continuous, full-time job offer from the BC employer. The job must be classified in the TEER category 1, 2 or 3
  • Jobs listed in the management occupation are not be eligible for this stream.
  • You must be qualified to work in your profession
  • You must meet the minimum language requirements.
  • Must have a wage offer in line with the BC wage rate for your occupation
  • Proof of funds, that you can support yourself and your dependents.

Your Employer must agree to support your application and meet the certain requirements

International Post-Graduate stream

The International Post-Graduate stream is for recent graduates of an eligible B.C. post-secondary institution with an eligible master’s or doctoral degree. PhD candidates at a public B.C. post-secondary institution may also be eligible.
 
You do not need a job offer from an employer to apply to this stream. 
 
You do not need to register for this stream. If you meet eligibility requirements, you can apply directly to the BC PNP.
 

Eligibility

To qualify for this stream, you must have obtained eligible graduate-level education from an eligible program of study at a post-secondary institution in B.C. in the last three years.
 
Eligible education includes:

  • Master’s degrees in an eligible program in the natural, applied or health sciences disciplines from a B.C. post-secondary institution. Please see the BC PNP IPG Programs of Study in Eligible Fields for more information
  • Doctoral degrees in any field of study from a public B.C. post-secondary institution
  • PhD students in any field of study who have been admitted to candidacy at a public B.C. post-secondary institution

You must also demonstrate that you have the ability and intent to live, work and economically establish in B.C.

This stream also has the Express Entry BC option.
